Corwin Alabaster Slat Chandelier

The Corwin Alabaster Slat Chandelier is a natural alabaster chandelier built from slim vertical slats of stone, held by two riveted bands on a brass frame and hung on a classic chain, in single-tier, two-tier and linear styles.

Think of an old cooper's workshop, where barrel staves were fitted side by side and bound with metal hoops until the whole became stronger and more beautiful than any single piece. The Corwin carries that honest, hand-built idea into stone. Slim slats of natural alabaster stand shoulder to shoulder around the drum, and two neat rows of rivets circle it like the bands on a barrel, so the fixture looks crafted and architectural even when it is switched off.

Switch it on and the whole chandelier glows from within. Light passes through every slat, bringing the stone's cream, honey and caramel veining to the surface, while the bulbs disappear completely behind the stone. The open base sends a soft, even pool of light down onto the table or island below, and the glowing drum fills the rest of the room with a warm, glare-free ambience that feels calm and welcoming.

Three silhouettes cover almost every room. The single-tier drum, from 22.4″ to 59.8″ wide, suits dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms and hallways. The two-tier chandelier stacks a smaller drum beneath a larger one for extra height and presence in entryways, stairwells and rooms with tall or vaulted ceilings. The linear version, 53.9″ or 71.6″ long, spreads the glow along kitchen islands and long dining tables.

Each chandelier is made in our own factory, where the alabaster slats are cut, fitted and inspected before packing, and ships within 5–10 days. It takes E12 candelabra bulbs (not included), runs on AC 110–240V and is rated IP20 for indoor dry locations.

The design story

Built like a barrel, lit like a lantern

In an old cooper's workshop, barrels were made one stave at a time. Each strip of wood was fitted against the next and bound with metal hoops until the whole became stronger and more beautiful than any single piece. It was honest work: nothing hidden, every joint and band on show.

The Corwin design takes that idea and builds it in stone. Slim slats of natural alabaster stand side by side, and two rows of rivets hold them together like the hoops of a barrel. The construction is the decoration, and the chain that carries it feels just as honest.

Then the light comes on, and the craft turns into something softer. Every slat glows, every vein of stone appears, and the room is lit the way rooms have been lit for centuries: through stone, warm and calm.

Are the slats real alabaster?

Yes. Every slat is cut from natural alabaster, a translucent stone that glows warm when light passes through it. Because it is a natural material, tone and veining vary from slat to slat, so no two Corwin chandeliers look exactly alike.

Which style should I choose: single-tier, two-tier or linear?

The single-tier drum suits dining rooms, living rooms and bedrooms with standard ceilings. The two-tier chandelier adds height and presence for foyers, stairwells and rooms with tall ceilings, while the linear version spreads light evenly along kitchen islands and long dining tables.

Which size is right for my table?

A good rule is about half to two thirds of the table length. For example, the 36.6″ drum suits tables of roughly 60–72″, the 47.6″ drum 72–96″, and the 71.6″ linear islands of about 96–108″.

How high should it hang?

Leave about 30–36″ between the tabletop or island and the bottom of the chandelier. In open walkways such as an entryway, keep at least 7 ft of clearance below the fixture.

How long is the chain, and can it be longer?

Every Corwin ships with a 150 cm / 59″ chain, and the drop is set during installation to suit your ceiling. For high, vaulted or double-height ceilings, we can make a longer chain to your measurement before the chandelier leaves our factory.

Can it hang from a sloped ceiling?

Yes. Because the Corwin hangs on a chain, it naturally hangs straight under an angled ceiling, and we can supply a sloped-ceiling canopy on request. Send us your ceiling pitch before ordering and we will confirm the right parts.

What bulbs does it use?

It takes E12 candelabra bulbs (E14 outside the US), max 40W, and bulbs are not included. Warm white LED bulbs at 2700K bring out the honey and cream tones of the stone best.

Can the Corwin be dimmed?

Yes, when you use dimmable bulbs with a compatible dimmer switch. If you are not sure which combination to choose, contact us and our team will recommend a setup.

Can I choose the look of the stone?

Yes. Tell us before you order whether you prefer paler, warmer or more heavily veined stone, and we will photograph your actual slats for approval before shipping.

How do I clean alabaster?

Switch the light off and dust the slats gently with a soft, dry cloth or brush. Alabaster is a soft, porous stone, so avoid water, sprays and chemical cleaners.

Which wall sconces match the Corwin?

The Aurelle Alabaster Wall Sconce shares the same natural alabaster and Gold, Black or Nickel finishes, and the Fluted Glass Rod Wall Sconce echoes the Corwin's vertical slats in ribbed glass. Both come in matching finishes and can be ordered as a pair.

Do I need an electrician?

Yes. The Corwin is hardwired to a ceiling junction box, so installation by a licensed electrician is recommended for safety and a clean finish.

How soon will it ship?

Each chandelier is made and inspected in our own factory and ships within 5–10 days. You will receive a tracking number by email as soon as it is on its way.
