2. Precise Measurement Checklist

  • Canopy inner diameter: For curved-ear brackets, the bracket's End-to-End Length must be strictly less than or equal to the canopy's inner wall diameter—otherwise it won't fit inside.
  • Mounting style: Confirm whether your fixture uses top-screw mounting (visible from canopy front) or side-screw mounting (screws into the bracket's bent ears).

3. Load Rating Approval

  • Standard load (33 lbs / ≤15 kg): Suitable for flat round canopies, straight bars, and dual-ended brackets.
  • Heavy load (66–110 lbs / 30–50 kg): Requires reinforced 3-ear, 4-ear cross brackets, or adjustable cross plates. Note: Heavy fixtures must be installed by two people.

  • 2-Piece Adjustable Cross Bars: Two zinc-plated steel pieces connected by a central screw. Allows ±15° horizontal angle adjustment. If the junction box hole is offset, this lets you precisely correct fixture alignment.

Before climbing, do a complete dry assembly of the new hardware (A/B/C/D series or cross bar) on the floor. Confirm that the M4 side screws on the fixture align flawlessly with the bracket holes.

Ground first: Twist your fixture's green/yellow ground wire to the green grounding screw labeled "GND" on the bracket, then wrap and secure with electrical tape.

Hot & Neutral connections: Use quality wire nuts to join the wires—White-to-White (neutral) and Black-to-Black (hot). Twist the wires together first, then cap with wire nuts. Never leave bare wire exposed.

Mount the Fixture Canopy

Carefully tuck the connected wiring back into the junction box. Lift the canopy into place. For B/C/D series and cross bars, screw the fixture's M4 side screws into the bracket's bent ears.

Before fully tightening, use a level (or trained eye) to verify the fixture is perfectly horizontal and vertically straight. Use the adjustable bracket's long slotted tracks to correct for any tilt in the original structure.

My bracket is labeled "4 inches"—why won't it fit in my 4-inch canopy?

In hardware terminology, "4 inches" typically refers to the bracket's internal round-plate baseline diameter. For B, C, and D series brackets, including the 90° bent ears on both sides, the actual End-to-End Length can be 4.3", 4.7", or even 5.4". Always measure the canopy's internal clearance and verify against the "End-to-End Length / Maximum Hole Spacing" listed in our spec table.

Should I just use the screws that came with the bracket to secure it to the ceiling?

The M4 screws included with the bracket are designed specifically for connecting the bracket to the fixture canopy. U.S. residential junction boxes (manufactured across different decades and brands) may use 8-32, 6-32, or other imperial threads. We strongly recommend keeping and reusing the original screws from your existing junction box to secure the bracket to the ceiling—this ensures maximum compatibility.
