The Verity Alabaster Dome Spiral Chandelier lights a tall space with one canopy and many cords. Every dome hangs on its own line, cut to its own length, from the same brass plate — so the fixture doesn't sit at one height. It descends. From the hall you see the lowest domes and the rest receding upward. From the landing you are standing among them. From the top you look straight down through the whole spiral at once. A ring of lights gives every one of those positions the same view. This gives three different ones.

The fixture itself does not restrict dimming. Brightness adjusts only if you fit a dimmable bulb on a compatible dimmer switch. The bulbs supplied as standard are not dimmable.

The Shape Is Decided in Your Room
Every cord is cut on site, which means the arrangement is not fixed at our factory. The same fixture makes three completely different shapes — and the right one depends on the space beneath it, not on the head count.
Clustered
Cords cut to nearly the same length, domes gathered tight. It reads as one object rather than several lights — the calm option, and the one that suits a low ceiling.

StaggeredMost chosen
Same footprint, cords at clearly different lengths. The domes fall at mixed heights so the group reads as a composition rather than a repeat — and it fills vertical space a clustered version leaves empty.

Spiral
Lengths increase in order around the canopy, so the domes turn as they descend. The only shape that changes as you climb — a descent from below, standing among them at the landing, the whole turn read at once from above.

How the height gets set
Cords arrive long and are shortened at installation — your electrician sets each one as the fixture goes up, with the room in front of them rather than a drawing. Nothing is fixed until then, and a length can be taken up again later if the furniture moves.
The one thing that cannot be done on the day is adding length. So tell us the shape you want before we ship, and we will supply enough cord for it at no extra cost. A spiral through a stairwell needs several times what a clustered version over a table does.

The Stone
Want a particular veining?
Every plate is different, so the one that arrives won't match these photographs exactly. That is what real stone does.
If you want it paler and more even, or with more grey movement, or warmer in tone — tell us before you order and we'll select the stone to suit. Send a photo of your room and we'll pick something that sits with it.

The versions on this page go up to 21 MAX HEADS, which suits most rooms. It is not a limit. A cluster is simply more of the same dome on more of the same cord — so if your table is longer or your stairwell taller, tell us the count you want and we'll make it.
The design
One Box in the Ceiling. Two Storeys to Fill.
A stairwell has height, and exactly one place to wire.
Stairwell voids are the hardest lighting problem in a house, and it is always the same problem. There is one junction box, usually right at the top, and eighteen feet of empty air below it. A single pendant leaves the bottom two thirds dark. A wide chandelier looks stranded up near the ceiling. Most people end up with something too small, hung too high, that nobody looks at twice.
Verity solves it with one canopy and many cords. Every dome hangs on its own line, cut to its own length, from the same plate — so the fixture does not sit at one height. It descends. And that turns a single ceiling point into something you can read from every floor the void touches.

The shades are natural alabaster, turned into rounded domes with a small brass sphere above each one. Quarried stone means the veining in every dome belongs to a single block, so no two shades in your spiral will match — a claim that is impossible to check on a single pendant, and obvious the moment fifteen of them hang in the same volume of air. Unlit, they are pale closed forms against the ceiling. Lit, the veins surface like ink in water.
Each dome throws its light downward, which matters more here than it sounds. In a stairwell that means the treads are lit at several levels rather than washed once from the top, and nobody walking down ever looks into a bare source. The cords stay thin enough to disappear against a pale wall, so what you see is stone hanging in the air — and one ceiling box doing the work of a whole scheme.

The things people ask before they order.
I only have one ceiling box. Is that enough?
Yes. Every cord runs from one canopy, so a single existing point powers all the lights — up to 21. No second box, no rewiring.
Is it real stone?
Yes — natural alabaster, not resin or glass. Every dome has its own veining, so no two in your spiral will match.
Are the lights all at the same height?
No — each cord is a different length, so the domes spiral downward. That's what makes it read from more than one floor.
How many heads do I need?
3 for a dining table. 5 for a single-flight stairwell. 9–15 for a two-storey void. Send us your ceiling height if unsure.
Can the cords be made longer?
Yes, free of charge — but tell us your ceiling height before we ship. They can be shortened on site, never lengthened.
What bulbs does it take?
E26 or E27 — the ordinary screw base, sold everywhere. Use 2700–3000K warm white, and the same bulb in every socket.
Can I dim it?
Only with dimmable bulbs on a compatible dimmer. The bulbs we send as standard are not dimmable — ask and we'll swap them.
Is it bright enough for a stairwell?
Yes. Each dome aims downward, so the treads are lit at several levels rather than washed once from the top.
How heavy is it?
Stone weighs more than glass. Have an electrician check your ceiling box before installing, especially on 12 heads and above.
How do I clean it in a stairwell?
A soft dry cloth once a year. No water, no sprays — alabaster is porous. High voids may need a pole duster or a lift.

Alabaster is translucent. Switch it on and the whole shade lights up from within, veining and all, instead of glowing only where the bulb sits. There is no bright spot to look at, because the light source is the entire surface.

Alabaster is a natural stone that absorbs water and cleaning agents, which can leave permanent stains. Disconnect the power, let the bulb cool down, and then wipe the fixture with a soft, dry cloth—do not use water or spray cleaners.

Limitations of resin
Resin is cast in moulds, so the "veining" repeats from one shade to the next and the light passes through evenly with no depth to it. It also ages differently: sitting close to a warm bulb, resin tends to amber and grow brittle within a few years.
