Caldera Alabaster Block Spiral Chandelier. The Caldera Alabaster Block Spiral Chandelier solves it with one canopy and many cords. Every shade hangs on its own line, cut to its own length, from the same black ceiling plate — so the fixture doesn't sit at one height. It descends. From the hall you see the lowest shades and the rest receding upward. From the landing you are standing among them. From the top you look straight down through the whole spiral at once. A ring of pendants gives every one of those positions the same view; this gives three different ones.

What makes it different from a softer stone fixture is the shape of the shade. These are not rounded domes. Each one is a rectangular block of alabaster — flat faces, square corners, a defined edge where one plane meets the next. That geometry does two things. Lit, each face glows evenly rather than falling off toward a curve, so the shades read as solid blocks of light rather than as glowing balls. And because the faces are flat, the veining reads clearly across them instead of bending around a curve — you can see the whole pattern in one look.

One Box in the Ceiling. Two Storeys to Fill.

A stairwell has height, and exactly one place to wire.

Stairwell voids are the hardest lighting problem in a house, and it is always the same problem. One junction box, usually right at the top, and eighteen feet of empty air below it. A single pendant leaves the bottom two thirds dark. A wide chandelier looks stranded near the plaster. Most people end up with something too small, hung too high, that nobody looks at twice.

Caldera solves it with one canopy and many cords. Every shade hangs on its own line, cut to its own length, so the fixture does not sit at one height. It descends — a spiral you read differently from the hall, from the landing, and looking down from the top.

A threaded brass collar at the top of each shade — the only ornament on the whole piece — on matte black cords and canopy that recede to thin lines against a pale ceiling. I only have one ceiling box. Is that enough?
Yes. Every cord runs from one canopy, so a single existing point powers all the lights — up to 11. No second box, no rewiring.
Which size do I need?
3 for a dining table. 5 for a single-flight stairwell. 7–11 for a two-storey void. Send us your ceiling height if unsure.
Is it real stone?
Yes — natural alabaster, not resin or glass. Each block comes from its own piece of rock, so no two match.
Why square shades instead of round?
Flat faces glow evenly and hold the veining in one plane. A curved shade dims toward the edge and bends the pattern out of sight.
Are the lights all at the same height?
No — each cord is a different length, so the shades spiral downward. That's what makes it read from more than one floor.
Can the cords be made longer?
Yes, free of charge — but tell us your ceiling height before we ship. They can be shortened on site, never lengthened.
Gold and black on one fixture — is that right?

What bulbs does it take?

Sloped or Vaulted Ceiling? Talk to Us First

The canopy supplied as standard is made to sit flat against a level ceiling. On a sloped, vaulted or cathedral ceiling it needs a sloped-ceiling adapter so the fixture hangs plumb rather than at an angle — and on a cluster, the cord lengths have to be recalculated as well, since the ceiling is higher at one side than the other.

Light Color Defines the Look

Use warm white (2700K). The stone itself has an off-white, creamy tone; cool light passing through it makes it look grayish and dingy, whereas warm light brings out that honey-like hue seen in the photos.

Clean Only with a Dry Cloth

Alabaster is a natural stone that absorbs water and cleaning agents, which can leave permanent stains. Disconnect the power, let the bulb cool down, and then wipe the fixture with a soft, dry cloth—do not use water or spray cleaners.

It is heavier than it looks.

The density of the stone is far greater than that of a glass shade of the same size; ensure the ceiling's load-bearing capacity is sufficient for safety.
