Four steps of stone, lit from inside.

The Ziggara Tiered Alabaster Table Lamp by Vidirlighting stacks four discs of natural alabaster on a solid stone column, each one smaller than the last, so the light steps down through the stone in rings of warm glow.

The idea came from the stepped towers of the 1920s: the ziggurat rooflines of Art Deco skyscrapers and the tiered lamps that stood in their lobbies. We carried that shape into stone. Because the alabaster is lit from within by integrated LED, every step reads as a bright ring above the softer face below it.

Where it belongs

Set it on an entry console, a bedside table, a sideboard or a desk as a warm accent lamp. The stepped profile suits Art Deco, Hollywood Regency and organic modern rooms, and looks just as good in a plain, minimal one.

The stone

Is it real alabaster?

Yes. The column and all four discs are turned from blocks of natural alabaster, not resin or glass. That is why the veining only appears once the lamp is switched on, and why the tone shifts slightly from tier to tier.

Will it look like the photos?

Closely, but not exactly. Every block of stone has its own colour and movement, so your lamp is its own piece rather than a copy of the sample, and that is what makes it worth having in stone.

Can I request a particular veining?

Yes. Tell us whether you want it paler and even, greyer, or warmer, and we will choose the stone before we start. We photograph the actual pieces and send them to you for approval before the lamp ships.

Is alabaster fragile?

It is a solid stone and holds up well on a table, but it is softer than granite or marble. Set it down gently, keep it away from table edges, and it will last for years.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the stone with a soft, dry cloth. Alabaster is porous, so avoid water, oils and cleaning sprays, which can leave marks in the surface.

Do I need a bulb?

No. The LED is integrated inside the lamp in warm white 3000K, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to replace over its life.

Can it dim?

Not as standard: the lamp switches on and off at the button on the cord. A dimmable version can be built to order, so contact us before you order and tell us the dimmer or smart plug you plan to use.

How much light does it give?

A soft, even glow with a brighter ring at every step. It is accent light for a console, bedside or sideboard rather than task light for reading or working.

Why 3000K?

Warm white keeps alabaster honey-toned. Cooler light makes natural stone look grey and flat, which is why we tune every alabaster piece to 2700–3000K.

How long is the cord?

59″ (150 cm), with a button switch on the line so you can reach it without moving the lamp. Tell us before you order if you need it longer and we will prepare it.

How big is it?

Ø 11.8″ × H 13.8″ (30 × 35 cm). It is wider than it is tall, so it sits low and spreads light across the surface instead of standing over it.

Will it fit a nightstand?

Yes, as long as the top is about 14″ deep. It leaves room for a book and a glass, and reads as a piece of sculpture beside the bed rather than a tall lamp.

Can it go in a bathroom?

It is rated IP20 for indoor, dry locations only. Keep it away from showers, tubs and steam, which can mark the stone over time.

How soon is it ready?

Each lamp is turned, assembled and inspected at our factory in 5–10 days before it ships. We will confirm the date with you once your order is placed.
