Leonie Alabaster Lantern Table Lamp

The Leonie Alabaster Lantern Table Lamp is a natural alabaster table lamp with a softly stepped lantern shade, a domed crown with a round finial and an acanthus leaf pedestal base in antique bronze-finished brass.

Switch it on and the stone comes alive. Light glows through the alabaster from within, and its cream, white and honey veining rises across the shade like clouds at sunset. There is no bare bulb and no glare, only a warm, gentle light that makes a bedroom feel restful and an entryway feel welcoming.

The details are made to be looked at up close. An embossed brass collar holds the stone, a domed crown with a round finial caps the lantern, and the pedestal spreads into a ring of acanthus leaves, a classic motif of European decorative arts. The antique bronze finish gives the brass a softly aged warmth that suits both traditional rooms and modern interiors that want a touch of heritage.

The design story

A lantern for the way home

Inspired by the stone lanterns of old Mediterranean towns.

In old Mediterranean towns, lanterns of thin-cut alabaster once hung by doorways and courtyard gates. When a flame burned inside, the stone seemed to wake up, its veins glowing like embers, and every traveler knew that someone was home.

The Leonie design brings that small, welcoming light indoors. Its softly stepped shade echoes the rounded lanterns of the past, while the domed crown and finial recall the metalwork that once capped them.

At its foot, a ring of acanthus leaves, one of the oldest ornaments in European decorative arts, turns the base into something you want to touch. The antique bronze finish makes it feel as if it has been in the family for generations.

Set it on a nightstand or a hallway console and switch it on at dusk. Like the lanterns that inspired it, it quietly says: welcome home.

Is the shade real alabaster?

Yes. The lantern shade is cut from natural alabaster, a translucent stone that glows warm when lit. Tone and veining vary from piece to piece, so every Leonie is one of a kind.

How big is the Leonie?

It measures Ø 6.3″ × H 16.5″ (Dia 16 cm × H 42 cm). That compact size makes it an accent lamp for nightstands, consoles, shelves and dressers, and it looks lovely in pairs.

What bulb does it use?

It takes an E12 candelabra bulb (E14 outside the US), max 40W, and the bulb is not included. A warm white 2700K LED bulb brings out the honey tones of the stone best.

How do I turn it on, and can it dim?

It has a push-button on/off switch. If you would like dimmable light, use a dimmable bulb with a compatible plug-in lamp dimmer, or contact us and we will help you choose.

What is the base made of?

The base, collar and crown are brass in an antique bronze finish, with acanthus leaf detailing on the pedestal. The warm metal tone is chosen to flatter the cream and honey veining of the alabaster.

Can I choose the look of the stone?

Yes. Tell us before you order whether you prefer paler, warmer or more heavily veined stone, and we will photograph your actual shade for approval before shipping.

How do I care for alabaster?

Switch the lamp off and dust the shade gently with a soft, dry cloth. Alabaster is a soft, porous stone, so avoid water, sprays and chemical cleaners, and keep it away from bathrooms and damp areas.

How long is the power cord?
