About the Arden

Brass, white glass, and a clean architectural line.

Most rooms light everything a little and nothing well. The Arden does the opposite: it gives one wall a clear purpose. Its long brass hood reaches out on a squared arm and turns downward, so light lands on the canvas instead of spilling into the room.

Under the hood, a white glass diffuser softens the light from two E26 or E27 bulbs into a single, even band. That means no bright stripe across the top of the frame and no dark corners at the bottom, only a calm, gallery-style glow that lets color and texture show.

The design is deliberately quiet. Beveled hood ends, a slim 4.7" profile, and a rectangular backplate keep the fixture from competing with the art beneath it, whether that is an oil landscape, a black-and-white photograph, a vintage map, or the vanity mirror you use every morning.

What size picture light do I need?

A picture light should span about one half to two thirds of the frame's width. If your piece falls between sizes, the longer light usually gives the more even result.

How far above the frame should it be mounted?

Position the backplate so the hood sits about 3–6" above the top of the frame. From there, use the swivel hinge to tilt the hood until the light reaches the bottom of the artwork without glare on the surface.

Can I angle the light?

Can I use it over a bathroom mirror?

Is the Arden dimmable?

Will the light damage my painting?

LED bulbs give off very little heat and almost no UV, which makes them the gentlest option for paintings, prints, and photographs. For valuable or antique pieces, switch the light off when the room is not in use.
