Installation Distance

Bedside Installation Distance in the Bedroom

Recommended Installation Height (from the floor): Hang above the center of the nightstand, or slightly outside it. The height should allow for adequate light to fall on a book while sitting and reading, without glare. (50-60 inches) (from the base of the fixture).

Installation Distance for Dining/Tabletops

Recommended Installation Height (from Tabletop):

1.Single-row Installation: Leave space on both sides: The outermost edge of the pendant should be at least 6 inches from the edge of the tabletop. Divide the length of the table by the number of fixtures you want, plus 1, to calculate the approximate distance.

Recommended installation distance (30-36 inches). Spacing between multiple fixtures (center to center) is 24-30 inches.

2.Group/Staggered Installation: Suitable for round tables or creating dramatic focal points. Adjusting the heights of the three fixtures creates a cascading effect.

Recommended lowest point (30 inches), highest point (40-43 inches). Spacing between multiple fixtures (center to center) is 12-18 inches.

Installation Guide for Chandeliers in Various Rooms

Room/Area Suitability and Functionality Recommended Installation Height (From Floor) Recommended Installation Distance/Spacing
Bedroom (Headside/Side of the Bed) Illuminates the dining surface while creating a warm dining atmosphere. The base should be about 28-30 inches from the top of the mattress. It should be about 50-60 inches from the floor for comfortable reading while seated. From the light fixture to the edge of the nightstand: Ensure adequate clearance, typically above the center of the nightstand.
Hallway/Entranceway/Entranceway Provides ample light for food preparation and cooking. The base should be at least 7-8 feet from the floor to ensure adequate headroom. From the light fixture to walls/obstructions: Maintain at least 4 feet of clearance. If installing multiple lights, space them evenly.
Living Room (General Lighting) Use it for ambient lighting or decorative accent lighting (such as hanging it above a coffee table). Overall lighting: 70-84 inches. Clear overhead obstructions: Ensure at least 7 feet of headroom at the base. From the light fixture to walls/obstructions: Maintain at least 4 feet of clearance, especially near doorways.
Kitchen Island/Above the Bar A striking decorative element, especially in an entryway. Typically, the base is about 72 inches from the floor. It should be 30-36 inches above the tabletop. From the edge of the table to the side of the light fixture: Allow at least 6 inches of clearance. Spacing multiple pendant lights: Ensure they are evenly spaced, typically 24-30 inches apart.
Dining Room/Above the Dining Table Replaces a bedside lamp to free up space on your nightstand for reading.

General Installation Principles and Precautions

1. A staggered decorative effect: Three different heights are available for combined installation. When hung at varying heights in entryways, stairwells, or grouped above dining tables, creating a sculptural and layered focal point.

2. Ceiling Height Considerations: The above heights are based on a standard ceiling height of 8 feet. If your ceiling is taller (e.g., 10 feet), you may need to slightly raise the fixture (such as the one above the dining table) to maintain a harmonious proportion with the room's volume.

3. Clearance: In pedestrian areas (e.g., hallways, living rooms, entryways), the minimum clearance from the bottom of the pendant light to the floor should be 7 feet (1.5 meters) to prevent head bumps.

4. Lamp Size and Proportion Above a Table/Island: The diameter/width of the pendant light should ideally be half to two-thirds the width of the table/island.

5. Functionality First:

  • Task Lighting (e.g., dining table, island): The pendant light should be low enough to effectively illuminate work or dining surfaces, but not obstruct visual communication.
  • Ambient Lighting (e.g., living room, hallway): The pendant light should be high enough to avoid obstructing movement and to distribute light more evenly throughout the room.

6. Visual Testing: Before final installation, use string and balloons to simulate the size and height of the pendant light. Observe the effect from different angles (standing and sitting) to find the most comfortable and proportionate height for the space.
