A small monument of glowing stone
Travellers stack stones into cairns along mountain paths, quiet markers that say the way is safe. The Cairn brings that calm gesture to your wall: a cup, a ring and a sphere of natural alabaster, stacked into one column of warm light.
Switched off, it is a quiet stone sculpture. Switched on, a built-in 3000K LED glows through every piece, and the light gathers in the seams between each stone. Because each stone is cut from natural alabaster, its clouds and veins in ivory and honey tones are unique to your lamp.
Choose from three models: the Hook Arm that hangs like a small pendant, the Up & Down that glows in both directions, or the Straight Rod with a clean vertical line. Each comes in gold or black, so this alabaster wall sconce fits warm traditional rooms as easily as modern organic and Japandi interiors.
Use one as a bedside wall lamp, a pair beside a mirror or headboard, or a row along a hallway or stairway. It runs on AC 110–240 V for homes in the US, UK, Europe and beyond, and is made to order in 5–10 working days.
All three models use the same 10 cm / 3.9″ natural alabaster stones in a gold or black finish. Pick the one that suits your wall and the light you need.

A curved arm and short chain let one stone stack hang freely, like a small pendant on the wall.

Two mirrored stacks rise and fall from one round wall plate, washing the wall with light in both directions.

A slim straight rod holds the stone stack in a clean vertical line, for a calm, architectural look.
Select the size marked (*2) to get two sconces at a better price than buying them separately. Perfect for both sides of a bed, a mirror or a doorway.

Alabaster is a natural stone. Every piece is cut and shaped by hand, so the veining, tone and glow of your sconce will never match the photos, or any other piece, exactly.
Because every stone is selected by hand, you can tell us which look you prefer. We will pick stone with a similar character for your sconce.
How to choose: leave a note with your order or contact our team with your preferred style. Ordering two or more? We also match pieces close in tone so they look like a set.
Tell us your styleThe standard Cairn turns on and off with a push-button switch. If you would like to dim the light, for example for a bedroom or a cosy living room, a dimmable version is available on request.
Please contact us before you place your order. Tell us the model, finish and quantity, and our team will confirm the dimmable option and details for you.
Clear answers on choosing, installing and caring for your Cairn sconce.
Hook Arm (Model A) hangs one stone stack from a curved arm and chain, ideal for bedsides and reading corners. Up & Down (Model B) has two stacks glowing above and below one wall plate, giving more light for mirrors, entries and feature walls. Straight Rod (Model C) holds one stack in a clean vertical line for bedsides, hallways and stairways.
Beside a bed, place the stone about 48–54″ (122–137 cm) above the floor, roughly 20–24″ above the mattress. Beside a mirror or along a hallway, aim for 60–66″ (152–168 cm) to the centre of the fixture.
Beside a mirror, space the two sconces about 36–40″ (91–102 cm) apart, centred on the mirror. Beside a bed, set each one 6–10″ outside the edge of the headboard so the light falls on your book, not your pillow.
Only in a dry area, such as beside a vanity mirror. It is rated IP20 for indoor dry locations, so keep it away from the shower, tub and water splashes.
Each sconce has a built-in 3000K warm white LED, so there are no bulbs to buy or replace. The light glows evenly through every piece of alabaster.
The standard version uses a push-button switch and is not dimmable. A dimmable version is available on request, so please contact us before you order.
AC 110–240 V, which suits standard US household wiring as well as most other countries.
The sconce mounts to a standard wall junction box and is hardwired. We recommend installation by a licensed electrician.
Yes. Choose the option marked (*2) to receive two sconces at a better price than buying them one by one.
Yes. Tell us whether you prefer a soft cloud, classic vein or bold vein look, and we will select stone with a similar character. For pairs, we match pieces close in tone.
Very close, but never identical. Veining, tone and translucency vary from piece to piece, which is the mark of genuine alabaster rather than a defect.
Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water, sprays and chemical cleaners, as alabaster is a soft, porous stone.
Send us a photo of your wall and we will suggest the model, height and spacing.

Natural stone lighting
The Vidir lighting edit
Most shades block light and let it out at the edges. Yet, this stone-textured lampshade manages to achieve exactly that.
Alabaster is translucent. Switch it on and the whole shade lights up from within, veining and all, instead of glowing only where the bulb sits. There is no bright spot to look at, because the light source is the entire surface.
The veining was decided underground, long before anyone cut it. Every shade carries its own pattern and its own faint colour shift — so the piece that arrives is not the piece in the photograph, and that is the point.
Resin and acrylic imitations go amber and brittle within a few years of sitting next to a warm bulb. Stone does not age that way. The shade you unpack is the shade you will have in twenty years.
Designed for better living
Use warm white (2700K). The stone itself has an off-white, creamy tone; cool light passing through it makes it look grayish and dingy, whereas warm light brings out that honey-like hue seen in the photos.
Alabaster is a natural stone that absorbs water and cleaning agents, which can leave permanent stains. Disconnect the power, let the bulb cool down, and then wipe the fixture with a soft, dry cloth—do not use water or spray cleaners.
The density of the stone is far greater than that of a glass shade of the same size; ensure the ceiling's load-bearing capacity is sufficient for safety.

Alabaster Cylindrical Chain Chandelier
Alabaster is translucent, so the light travels through the stone rather than escaping at the edges — the whole shade glows, veining and all. Every piece carries a pattern that was decided underground, which is why no two are alike.
Resin is cast in moulds, so the "veining" repeats from one shade to the next and the light passes through evenly with no depth to it. It also ages differently: sitting close to a warm bulb, resin tends to amber and grow brittle within a few years.
THE ART OF ALABASTER
The natural texture of alabaster brings a warm, mineral quality to the space. (Please contact us if you require a specific texture.)
A pure white texture reminiscent of fresh snow—warm, smooth, and refined.
Deep, inky patterns flow across a white base.
A dynamic pattern resembling a bolt of lightning streaking across the sky.
Fine, intricate cracks evoking the aesthetic beauty of a sheet of ice at the moment it shatters.
A pattern as light and airy as falling snowflakes, with every single flake unique.
Material · Method · Light
Every texture tells a story of natural light and patient craftsmanship.

Crafted from select natural alabaster, preserving its unique veining.
Meticulously cut and shaped by artisans.
Repeatedly ground and polished for a smooth, refined texture.
Carefully assembled and quality-inspected.
