The story behind the lightWhy this light is real travertine stone, not resin
A slim column of natural stone glowing softly overhead in your hallway, kitchen, or entryway:

Read
01

Carved from the Earth Itself

Every travertine light is one of a kind

The body of this travertine ceiling light is cut from genuine natural travertine — a stone formed over thousands of years in mineral springs. No two pieces share the same porous texture, earthy tone, or veining, so the warm character of your travertine light fixture exists nowhere else on earth. It's not resin, not faux stone, not plastic — it's a genuine piece of the earth, and it belongs to no one else but you.

02

A Soft, Even Glow

Warm, diffused, never harsh

The slim rectangular form spreads a warm 3000K light into a soft, even, diffused wash — no glare, no hot spots. In an instant the cold, flat feel of a hallway, kitchen, or entryway settles into a quiet, inviting warmth. It's the atmospheric quality designers reach for in fine travertine lighting: gentle ambient light that flatters the room and everyone in it, and a glow no printed resin panel can imitate.

03

Slim, Architectural Presence

Low-profile, linear, refined

At just 1.9″ high, this linear ceiling light sits low and sleek against the ceiling, adding a gallery-like, architectural presence without ever feeling bulky. The pairing of natural stone with a warm wood-tone frame gives it an organic, wabi-sabi-modern character — a flush mount that reads as sculptural architecture by day and a soft band of warm light by night. Four lengths let it fit everything from a compact entry to a long showcase wall.

04

An Heirloom of Time

Built to age, not to fade

Natural travertine has been treasured since Roman times for one reason: it endures. Unlike a resin or faux-stone panel that yellows and grows brittle under the warmth of an LED, natural stone keeps its color and character for decades. Its genuine, substantial weight is the first thing customers notice that tells them they've received the real thing. As the years pass, this natural stone ceiling light only deepens in character — an heirloom, not a trend.

Questions, Answered

Travertine Ceiling Light FAQ

Can I mount it horizontally or vertically?
Yes — because it's a linear fixture, you can mount it horizontally, vertically, or group several together in a staggered layout. Run them lengthwise to wash a hallway, stand them upright over an island, or combine multiple for a custom statement ceiling. Each fixture wires to its own ceiling junction box, so plan spacing and box positions before you start.
Is this ceiling light real travertine?
Yes — the body is genuine natural travertine stone, never resin or faux stone. Its porous texture and earthy veining are one of a kind, so your travertine ceiling light has its own unique character. Slight variation between pieces is the mark of authentic stone, not a defect.
What sizes are available?
Four lengths: 31.5″, 39.4″, 47.2″, and 59.1″ (80 / 100 / 120 / 150cm), all a slim 1.9″ (5cm) high — sized for entryways, hallways, kitchen counters, and long showcase walls.
What kind of light does it give?
It has an integrated LED in warm white (3000K) that spreads a soft, even, diffused glow through the slim form — great for ambient or accent lighting, with no harsh glare. There's no bulb to buy or replace.
Is it dimmable?
This fixture uses a push-button switch and is not dimmable. The integrated LED delivers a fixed, warm 3000K glow. (Please contact us if you require a dimmable version.)
Where does this travertine ceiling light work best?
Its low-profile, linear form suits hallways, entryways, kitchens, bathrooms, closets, and showrooms — anywhere you want warm, even overhead light with a natural-stone accent.
Is it hard to install — do I need an electrician?
It's a hardwired flush-mount fixture mounted to a standard US ceiling box (L/N/E wiring). A confident DIYer with wiring experience can manage a single fixture, but for multiple lights or a clean, level layout we recommend a qualified electrician. Always cut power at the breaker first.
How do I care for the travertine?
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water, harsh chemicals, and abrasive pads — travertine is a porous natural stone. With simple care, this natural stone ceiling light keeps its warm character for decades.

Built Right, Inside and Out

The beauty of a fixture is easy to photograph. What matters just as much is what sits inside the canopy—the driver, the bracket, the wiring, the hardware in the box. Here is how we build for safety and longevity, so the fixture you order arrives ready to install and made to last.

Install the driver, bracket and other components - Vidirlighting
01 · The Driver

An LED Driver Built to Last

We offer integrated LED drivers in a range of styles—dimmable, constant-current, and color-temperature-adjustable—so the fixture can be matched to how you actually light the room. It runs on 110–240V, works straight out of the box on standard US household power, and is rated for both dry and damp locations, so it fits wherever you'd like to install it.

02 · The Bracket

A Solid Mounting Bracket

Every fixture ships with a sturdy mounting bracket sized to a standard US junction box—so it hangs true and stays secure, year after year. No improvising, no trips to the hardware store.

03 · The Box

Everything You Need, in One Box

Open the carton and it's all there—canopy, mounting plate and bracket, screws and wall anchors, the driver, and a pair of clean cotton gloves for handling the glass. Nothing missing, nothing to source separately. It's the small stuff, packed with care, that makes installation day feel easy.

04 · The Wiring

Clean, Color-Coded Wiring

Clearly labeled leads and a tidy factory harness make professional installation quick and unambiguous. Hand it to your electrician and they'll have it up in minutes—standard L / N / E hardwiring, the way a considered fixture should be.

Order with confidence: what arrives at your door is a fixture built to be lived with—considered on the inside, finished on the outside. Wiring should be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with local code.

Raw travertine limestone blocks being cut in the factory
Vidir lighting / Travertine

Natural stone lighting

It starts as a block this size.

Every travertine fixture we make begins in a yard like this one — a raw block chosen for its banding, sawn down, and hollowed out by hand until what is left is a shade. Nothing is cast, veneered or filled.

Our stone yard

The material

Travertine is not manufactured. It is formed.

Laid down over thousands of years by mineral springs, then cut once and finished by hand. What arrives is a piece of that record, not a copy of it.

Natural beige travertine, porous surface close-up Quarried stone · honed by hand
01

Real stone, worked by hand

Quarried, cut and honed — nothing compounded

This is travertine out of the ground, not a compound. Engineered stone is crushed mineral bound in polymer and pressed into sheets; it can look convincing in a photograph, but the pattern repeats every metre or so and the surface is really plastic holding stone dust. Ours comes off a block cut in a quarry, and every piece carries whatever that block happened to contain.

Finishing is done by hand, grit by grit. A machine polisher would take minutes and leave a flat, glassy face — it shears off the high points, seals the pores and gives you a surface that reflects light rather than holds it. Hand honing takes hours instead, working coarse through ultra-fine until the stone is smooth to the touch but still open, with its pores and banding exactly where the block put them.

You feel the difference before you see it. The surface is cool and faintly textured, with a soft sheen rather than a shine, and small shadows that shift as you walk past. That is what stone does when it has not been filled and buffed into something else.

A machine can make stone look perfect. Only a hand can leave it looking like stone.

Quarried block Cut from solid travertine, graded at origin. No composite, no reconstituted stone.
Honed by hand Coarse through ultra-fine grit, finished matte or satin. We do not high-polish travertine.
Care Dry brush or soft cloth. Keep acids away — they etch natural stone permanently.
Geometric travertine forms, sculptural display Cut forms · cylinder, dome, arch, disc
02

Cut as sculpture, not as a shade

Hollowed from one solid block

Most stone fixtures on the market are panels bonded to a metal drum. It uses a fraction of the material and it is far quicker to build, but the banding breaks at every joint and there is always a seam somewhere that catches the eye once you have noticed it.

Ours are cored out of a single block. The banding wraps continuously around the form, the wall thickness is even the whole way round, and there is no join to find because there is no join. It costs several times the stone and a great deal more time on the lathe, and it is the difference you register from across a room without being able to name it.

Working from solid also means the geometry is open. Cylinders, domes, arches, stacked discs, tapered cones — anything that can be drawn can be cut, at the scale the room needs rather than the scale a stock mould allows.

Switched off, it is still an object in the room. Glass and metal only exist once you flip the switch.

Any form Cylinder, dome, arch, disc, cone, or built from your own drawing.
Any dimension Cut to size in inches or centimetres, single pieces or project quantities.
Hardware Brass, brushed nickel or blackened steel, chosen to sit with the stone.
01Porosity

The stone softens the light itself

Natural voids scatter the beam on its way out, so the warmth sits closer to candlelight than to a bulb: soft, slightly irregular, never clinical. No diffuser, no frosted glass and no warm-tinted lamp is doing that work — the material is.

02Palette

Between cream and walnut

From pale bone through sunlit beige to deep earth brown, with the colour running through the block rather than sitting on the surface. It is a neutral that has warmth in it, which is why travertine sits as comfortably against oak and linen as it does against plaster and steel.

03Permanence

Made to be kept, not replaced

Stone does not yellow, sag, cloud or delaminate. It takes on a quiet patina where hands touch it and otherwise stays exactly as it arrived. That is the argument for buying one fixture properly instead of three cheaply over the same fifteen years.

40,000+ Years for the stone to form, before anyone cut it
1 / 1 No two pieces carry the same banding or pore pattern
100% Natural travertine, cored from solid, never a veneer

How We Shape Every Travertine Lamp

Each lamp begins as a raw block of natural travertine. In our workshop, the stone is cut and finished in careful stages, so its pores and veining stay true to nature while the surface gains a soft, even finish.

  1. An industrial diamond saw cutting through a raw block of travertine in the factory.

    Precision Cutting

An industrial diamond saw slices each raw travertine block into workable pieces. The fine blade leaves clean, accurate edges and helps protect the stone from chips and cracks.

  2. A craftsman hand polishing a wet travertine slab to bring out its natural veining.

    Hand Polishing

Craftsmen polish each piece by hand, keeping the surface wet to control heat and dust. This slow finish brings out the stone's warm tone and flowing veins and gives it a smooth, refined feel.

Explore the Quiet Beauty of Our Travertine Lamps

Every travertine lamp we make begins as natural stone, formed layer by layer in mineral springs over thousands of years. Its open pores and flowing veins come straight from the earth, so no two pieces are ever quite the same.

Choose the tone that suits your room and bring a calm, organic warmth into your home.

  • Natural Beige Warm sand tone with open, natural pores
  • Ivory White Soft, light stone with fine linear veining
  • Volcanic Black Deep, textured stone with bold contrast

Natural variation in color and veining is part of the stone, and it makes each lamp one of a kind.
