Light changes everything
Discover sculptural lighting designed to bring warmth, character, and atmosphere to every room.
The billiard-hall light, reimagined in stone.
The Harlowe Alabaster Two-Light Linear Pendant by Vidir Lighting hangs two cone shades of natural alabaster from a single brass bar, each on a gently curved arm, with a turned brass finial marking the center.
Its shape comes from the long brass lamps that once hung over billiard tables and bar counters: one straight rod, a light at each end, and a warm pool of glow falling exactly where it was needed. The Harlowe keeps that honest silhouette, softens the elbows into smooth curves, and trades the old metal shades for cones of natural alabaster. Switch it on and each shade glows warm from within, its veining rising in soft clouds of cream and caramel, while the light below falls evenly across the counter.
Choose 40.1″, 47.2″ or 55.1″ to suit your counter. It is an alabaster island light and a kitchen island pendant light first, and equally at home over a dining table, a breakfast bar or a home bar. Standard E26 bulbs (not included) keep it easy to live with, and gold, black or nickel lets it sit with modern traditional, transitional or vintage-inspired kitchens.
Each Harlowe is assembled, wired and inspected in our own factory, then shipped directly to you within 5–10 days. The brass frame and both shades are checked before packing, and the two shades are selected to sit well together as a pair.
W 9.1″ × H 11.8″ / W 23 cm × H 30 cm in every length.

Every Harlowe ships with a 100 cm / 39.3″ downrod, which places the shades at the right height under a ceiling of about 10 ft (3 m). Planning for a vaulted, double-height or open-beam ceiling? We can make a longer rod to your measurement so the shades still hang at the perfect height above your island.
Need a longer rod?Send us your ceiling height and we will confirm the right length before your light is made.
Request a custom lengthEach shade takes a regular E26 medium-base bulb, the same kind sold at any US hardware store. Bulbs are not included, so you can choose your own. For the warmest glow through stone, pick 2700–3000K LED bulbs.
Each cone is cut from natural alabaster, so tone and veining vary from piece to piece. Yours will look slightly different from the photos: a characteristic of real stone, not a defect.

Natural stone lighting
The Vidir lighting edit
Most shades block light and let it out at the edges. Yet, this stone-textured lampshade manages to achieve exactly that.
Alabaster is translucent. Switch it on and the whole shade lights up from within, veining and all, instead of glowing only where the bulb sits. There is no bright spot to look at, because the light source is the entire surface.
The veining was decided underground, long before anyone cut it. Every shade carries its own pattern and its own faint colour shift — so the piece that arrives is not the piece in the photograph, and that is the point.
Resin and acrylic imitations go amber and brittle within a few years of sitting next to a warm bulb. Stone does not age that way. The shade you unpack is the shade you will have in twenty years.
Designed for better living
Use warm white (2700K). The stone itself has an off-white, creamy tone; cool light passing through it makes it look grayish and dingy, whereas warm light brings out that honey-like hue seen in the photos.
Alabaster is a natural stone that absorbs water and cleaning agents, which can leave permanent stains. Disconnect the power, let the bulb cool down, and then wipe the fixture with a soft, dry cloth—do not use water or spray cleaners.
The density of the stone is far greater than that of a glass shade of the same size; ensure the ceiling's load-bearing capacity is sufficient for safety.

Our product
Alabaster Cylindrical Chain Chandelier
Alabaster is translucent, so the light travels through the stone rather than escaping at the edges — the whole shade glows, veining and all. Every piece carries a pattern that was decided underground, which is why no two are alike.
Resin is cast in moulds, so the "veining" repeats from one shade to the next and the light passes through evenly with no depth to it. It also ages differently: sitting close to a warm bulb, resin tends to amber and grow brittle within a few years.
THE ART OF ALABASTER
The natural texture of alabaster brings a warm, mineral quality to the space. (Please contact us if you require a specific texture.)
A pure white texture reminiscent of fresh snow—warm, smooth, and refined.
Deep, inky patterns flow across a white base.
A dynamic pattern resembling a bolt of lightning streaking across the sky.
Fine, intricate cracks evoking the aesthetic beauty of a sheet of ice at the moment it shatters.
A pattern as light and airy as falling snowflakes, with every single flake unique.
Material · Method · Light
Every texture tells a story of natural light and patient craftsmanship.

Crafted from select natural alabaster, preserving its unique veining.
Meticulously cut and shaped by artisans.
Repeatedly ground and polished for a smooth, refined texture.
Carefully assembled and quality-inspected.
