A candle, carved in stone.
The Solenne Alabaster Cylinder Pendant Light by Vidirlighting sets a slim column of natural alabaster beneath a polished brass sphere, so a single light reads like a candle carved from stone.
The idea came from the simplest light there is: a single candle in a quiet room. We kept its tall, narrow shape and gave it to stone. A column of alabaster takes the place of the wax, and a round brass sphere sits on top like a drop of light caught just before it falls. Switch it on and the whole column glows warm from within, its veining rising to the surface in soft clouds of cream and amber.
At just 2.4″ wide, it is a mini alabaster pendant that fits where larger fixtures cannot. Hang one as a bedside pendant light, run three or four as kitchen island pendant lights, drop a cluster down a stairwell, or frame an entryway with a pair. Choose a cord or a rod, in brass, black or nickel.

59″150 cmSet the drop to any height on site. Best for high or sloped ceilings, stairwells and staggered clusters.

39.4″100 cmA straight, architectural line from ceiling to stone. Best over kitchen islands and in neat rows.

About the size of a tall pillar candle. Small enough for a bedside or a narrow hallway, and easy to group in threes, fours or more over an island or down a stairwell.
Space pendants 24–30″ apart and hang them 30–36″ above the counter.
It depends on the bulb. Fit a dimmable G9 bulb with a compatible dimmer and the pendant dims smoothly. For the warmest glow through stone, choose 2700–3000K.
Natural veining as standard, or tell us the look you want.
1NATURAL VEININGEvery Solenne shade is cut from natural alabaster, so tone and veining vary from piece to piece. Yours will look slightly different from the photos.
2CUSTOM VEININGTell us before you order and we will select the stone to suit. Ordering several for an island? We pick columns that sit well together, and photograph the actual stone for your approval before it ships.
Two suspension options, two lengths.
Cord from the ceiling to the top of the shade, for a pendant 30–36″ above a kitchen island. Maximum cord length 59″ (150 cm).
Over a bed or table, raise or lower to taste. Excess cord is trimmed at installation.
Choose the cord version (59″ / 150 cm). It hangs straight down whatever the ceiling angle, so the stone column always stays level.
It depends on the bulb. With a dimmable G9 bulb and compatible dimmer, it dims.
Cord (59″) lets you set any drop; rod (39.4″) gives a straight, fixed line.
Yes. Choose the cord version, which hangs straight down on sloped and vaulted ceilings.
Three for islands up to 6 ft, four or five for 7–9 ft.
One G9 bulb, 40W max. We recommend warm white 2700–3000K.
Yes. Each column is natural alabaster, so veining varies.
It is rated IP20 for indoor, dry locations, so keep it away from steam.
Yes. Tell us before you order and we will choose the stone and send a photo for approval.
It is hardwired to a ceiling junction box, so we recommend a licensed electrician.
Each pendant takes 5–10 days to make and inspect before dispatch.
Switch off at the breaker.
Fix the plate to a rated junction box.
Adjust the cord or fit the rod, then wire it.
Add a G9 bulb and switch on.

Natural stone lighting
The Vidir lighting edit
Most shades block light and let it out at the edges. Yet, this stone-textured lampshade manages to achieve exactly that.
Alabaster is translucent. Switch it on and the whole shade lights up from within, veining and all, instead of glowing only where the bulb sits. There is no bright spot to look at, because the light source is the entire surface.
The veining was decided underground, long before anyone cut it. Every shade carries its own pattern and its own faint colour shift — so the piece that arrives is not the piece in the photograph, and that is the point.
Resin and acrylic imitations go amber and brittle within a few years of sitting next to a warm bulb. Stone does not age that way. The shade you unpack is the shade you will have in twenty years.
Designed for better living
Use warm white (2700K). The stone itself has an off-white, creamy tone; cool light passing through it makes it look grayish and dingy, whereas warm light brings out that honey-like hue seen in the photos.
Alabaster is a natural stone that absorbs water and cleaning agents, which can leave permanent stains. Disconnect the power, let the bulb cool down, and then wipe the fixture with a soft, dry cloth—do not use water or spray cleaners.
The density of the stone is far greater than that of a glass shade of the same size; ensure the ceiling's load-bearing capacity is sufficient for safety.

Our product
Alabaster Cylindrical Chain Chandelier
Alabaster is translucent, so the light travels through the stone rather than escaping at the edges — the whole shade glows, veining and all. Every piece carries a pattern that was decided underground, which is why no two are alike.
Resin is cast in moulds, so the "veining" repeats from one shade to the next and the light passes through evenly with no depth to it. It also ages differently: sitting close to a warm bulb, resin tends to amber and grow brittle within a few years.
THE ART OF ALABASTER
The natural texture of alabaster brings a warm, mineral quality to the space. (Please contact us if you require a specific texture.)
A pure white texture reminiscent of fresh snow—warm, smooth, and refined.
Deep, inky patterns flow across a white base.
A dynamic pattern resembling a bolt of lightning streaking across the sky.
Fine, intricate cracks evoking the aesthetic beauty of a sheet of ice at the moment it shatters.
A pattern as light and airy as falling snowflakes, with every single flake unique.
Material · Method · Light
Every texture tells a story of natural light and patient craftsmanship.

Crafted from select natural alabaster, preserving its unique veining.
