This Solen Dish Flush Mount Ceiling Light one is built backwards on purpose. The wide upper dish throws light onto the ceiling, and the ceiling — a large, matte, pale surface — hands it back to the room as a broad, even wash. The small bowl beneath catches what would otherwise fall directly downward and softens it. The lamp itself sits in the gap between the two, where nobody can see it.

The result is a flush mount ceiling light with no visible bulb from anywhere in the room — not from the doorway, not from a chair, not lying on your back in bed. Bright without a bright spot. Unlit, it reads as a single clean disc — closer to a piece of ceiling architecture than a light fitting. This sits close to the ceiling with a shallow profile, which makes it the right answer for the rooms a pendant is wrong in: a hallway you walk down, a bedroom where you look up from the pillow, a landing, a small entry.

Good to Know

About dimming

The LED is integrated, so dimming works through a compatible LED wall dimmer rather than by changing bulbs. (Please contact us if you require a dimmable version.)

Where It Fits

One Size. Which Room?

∅ 17.7″ × H 5.9″ (45 × 15 cm) — wide enough to read as a deliberate disc, shallow enough for a standard ceiling. The only question left is which room it belongs in.

Hallway
One every 8–10 ft along the run
Why hereAt only 5.9″ deep it barely enters the space. Nothing to walk into, nothing to duck under.
Ceiling8 ft +

Space them evenly; end the run about 3 ft from each wall.

Bedroom
One fixture up to ~150 sq ft
Why hereThe lamp is enclosed between the dish and the bowl, so there is nothing to look into from the pillow.
Ceiling8–10 ft

Centre it on the room, not the bed — the light comes off the ceiling.

Entry & Landing
One fixture up to ~120 sq ft
Why hereSmall spaces where a pendant would be in the way, and where the ceiling is close enough to bounce light well.
Ceiling8–10 ft

On a landing, centre it over the open floor rather than the stairs.

Living Room
General layer only add a lamp for reading
Be honestAt 12W this is not a large room's only light. It gives an even ambient wash — not task light over a chair.

The design

It Points at the Ceiling

Not at you.

Almost every ceiling light does the same thing: it puts a lamp behind a shade and fires it straight down. It works, and it is the reason so many rooms with perfectly adequate lighting still feel hard.

This one is built the other way round. The wide upper dish throws the light onto the ceiling — and a ceiling is a large, pale, matte surface, which is to say the best diffuser in the room and one you already own. It hands the light back as a broad even wash. The small bowl underneath catches whatever would have fallen straight down and softens that too. The lamp itself sits in the gap between the two, where nobody in the room can see it — not from the doorway, not from a chair, not lying on your back in bed.

What is left to look at is two curves and nothing else. No exposed sockets, no seam, no visible hardware, no ornament asking for attention. In gold it warms the whole ceiling plane; in black it holds against a white ceiling as a deliberate dark shape. And at under six inches deep, it does all of this in the rooms most people actually have — the eight-foot ceilings where a pendant would simply be in the way.

— Aim it upward. Let the room have the light. —
The Shape

Why a Dish and a Bowl

What this does that an ordinary domed ceiling light can't.

Dish + Bowl Standard Dome Shade
The light Bounced off the ceiling — a broad, even wash Fired straight down at you
The bulb Hidden between the two shades — invisible from anywhere in the room Shows through the diffuser as a bright patch
From the bed Nothing to look into You look straight at the brightest thing in the room
Switched off Two clean metal curves A frosted dome that collects dust and insects, in full view
Over time Steel finish stays as it is Acrylic diffusers yellow with age and heat
Questions, Answered

Common Questions

Will I see the bulb?
No. The light source sits between the upper dish and the lower bowl — hidden from every angle in the room, including from the pillow.
Do I need to buy bulbs?
No. The LED is built in, fixed at a warm white 3000K. Nothing to buy, fit, or match. It also means the colour of the light is decided for you.
Is the LED replaceable?
[__ ANSWER FROM FACTORY — do not publish this page without it. If the module can be changed, say so plainly. If it cannot, say that too and give the rated hours.]
Will one light my whole room?
For a hallway, bedroom, entry or landing, yes. In a large living room it is your general light — you will still want a lamp for reading. Send us your room size and we'll tell you honestly.
Is it flush or semi-flush?
[__ CONFIRM. A flush mount sits tight against the ceiling; a semi-flush hangs on a short stem with a gap. Use the same word here, in the title, and in the spec table.]
Gold or black?
Gold warms the whole ceiling plane and suits wood and stone. Black stays a defined dark disc against a white ceiling. Same size, same price — they do different jobs.
Can it be dimmed?
Yes, but through a compatible LED wall dimmer — not by changing bulbs. Not every dimmer suits every driver, so tell us what you have before ordering.
Can it go in a bathroom?
Indoor, dry locations only. Not in a shower, not above a bath. Those need a damp- or wet-rated fixture.
How do I clean it?
A soft dry cloth, once or twice a year. It is on the ceiling, so dust on the upper dish is the only thing that collects — and unlike a dome, nothing gathers inside it.

Built Right, Inside and Out

The beauty of a fixture is easy to photograph. What matters just as much is what sits inside the canopy—the driver, the bracket, the wiring, the hardware in the box. Here is how we build for safety and longevity, so the fixture you order arrives ready to install and made to last.

Install the driver, bracket and other components - Vidirlighting
01 · The Driver

An LED Driver Built to Last

We offer integrated LED drivers in a range of styles—dimmable, constant-current, and color-temperature-adjustable—so the fixture can be matched to how you actually light the room. It runs on 110–240V, works straight out of the box on standard US household power, and is rated for both dry and damp locations, so it fits wherever you'd like to install it.

02 · The Bracket

A Solid Mounting Bracket

Every fixture ships with a sturdy mounting bracket sized to a standard US junction box—so it hangs true and stays secure, year after year. No improvising, no trips to the hardware store.

03 · The Box

Everything You Need, in One Box

Open the carton and it's all there—canopy, mounting plate and bracket, screws and wall anchors, the driver, and a pair of clean cotton gloves for handling the glass. Nothing missing, nothing to source separately. It's the small stuff, packed with care, that makes installation day feel easy.

04 · The Wiring

Clean, Color-Coded Wiring

Clearly labeled leads and a tidy factory harness make professional installation quick and unambiguous. Hand it to your electrician and they'll have it up in minutes—standard L / N / E hardwiring, the way a considered fixture should be.

Order with confidence: what arrives at your door is a fixture built to be lived with—considered on the inside, finished on the outside. Wiring should be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with local code.
