💡 For different scenarios, there are different recommendations regarding the height of the bottom of a chandelier from the ground or from the plane, in order to ensure both comfort and aesthetics.

Scenes Recommended Installation Distances (Bottom to Reference Plane) Key Considerations
Living Room Bottom height from the ground: approximately 210 - 240 cm (82.7 - 94.5 inches) (standard shelf height) Ensure the lighting does not obstruct movement, create a sense of oppression, or cause glare.
Dining Room/Dining Table Bottom height from the desktop: approximately 70 - 90 cm (27.5 - 35.4 inches) Ensure the lighting evenly covers the tabletop, does not impede eye contact during meals, and prevents head bumps.
Bar Counter/Island Bottom height from the tabletop: approximately 80 - 85 cm (31.5 - 33.5 inches) Provide ample localized lighting, avoiding excessively low lighting that could cause inconvenience.
Bedroom (Above Bedside Table) Bottom height from the bedside table surface: approximately 30 - 50 cm (11.8 - 19.7 inches) Create a soft reading light and atmosphere, avoiding a feeling of oppression.
High Ceiling/Atrium Pendant light bottom should be at least 300 cm (118.1 inches) from the ground. Ensure an overall sense of grandeur in the visual effect, avoiding an overly low ceiling.

📐 In addition to the installation height, the diameter or width of the chandelier itself also needs to be proportional to the size of the space or furniture in order to achieve the best visual effect.

1. Determine the Chandelier's Diameter (or Width)

  • Formula: Room Length (ft) + Room Width (ft) = Chandelier Diameter (inches).
  • Example: If your living room is 16 feet long and 12 feet wide, then 16 + 12 = 28! A chandelier diameter of approximately 28 inches is recommended.

2. Determine the Chandelier's Height

  • Formula: Room Height (ft) × 2.5 to Room Height (ft) × 3 = Chandelier Height Range (inches).
  • Example: If the room ceiling is 8 feet high, then (2.5 × 8) to (3 × 8) = 20 to 24! A chandelier height between 20 and 24 inches is recommended.

3. Dining Room and Kitchen Island

  • We generally recommend that the length or diameter of a pendant light should be between 1/2 and 3/4 of the length of the dining table or kitchen island.
  • For example, suppose your dining table is 60 inches long. The diameter or length of the pendant light should be between 30 inches (60 x 1/2 inches) and 45 inches (60 x 3/4 inches) (again, the length should be between 1/2 and 3/4 inches of the length of the kitchen island).

🏡 When choosing a chandelier, consider the size of the space, ceiling height, function, and design style.

Types of Chandeliers Suitable Scenarios Design Features and Suggestions
Large/Multi-tiered Crystal Chandeliers High-ceilinged living rooms, banquet halls, hotel lobbies, large atriums Suitable for open spaces with ceiling heights of 3.4 meters or higher, creating a grand, luxurious, and stunning visual effect.
Minimalist/Modern Geometric Chandeliers Modern living rooms, dining rooms, open kitchen islands Simple lines and a stylish design. Suitable for home spaces with a modern, minimalist style.
Linear/Strip Chandeliers Rectangular dining tables, kitchen islands, hallways/corridors Suitable for long and narrow spaces, evenly illuminating the entire elongated area while maintaining a strong visual impact.
Small/Miniature Chandeliers Bedrooms, small living rooms, separate bar counters Avoids creating a feeling of oppression in smaller spaces, providing soft, focused decorative lighting.
