The story behind the lightWhy this pendant is real alabaster stone, not resin

01

Bowls Carved from the Earth

Every alabaster piece is one of a kind

Each hourglass of this alabaster pendant light is hand-carved from genuine natural alabaster — a translucent stone formed over thousands of years. No two bowls share the same veining, hue, or translucency, so the warm marbling that glows through your alabaster chandelier exists nowhere else on earth. It's not resin, not faux stone, not plastic — it's a genuine piece of the earth, and it belongs to no one else but you.

02

A Light That Breathes

Warm, soft, never harsh

What makes alabaster captivating is its rare ability to glow without revealing the source. As light fills the stone bowls, it filters out all glare and softens into a warm, honey-amber glow. In an instant a dining room, foyer, or stairwell settles into a quiet, inviting calm — exactly the atmospheric quality designers reach for in fine alabaster lighting, and a glow no printed resin shade can imitate.

03

Sculptural Hourglass Design

Stone & brass in balance

Two alabaster bowls — one inverted above, one open below — meet at a warm brass bead to form a distinctive hourglass silhouette, finished with slender brass rods and beads. The pairing of soft, glowing stone and warm metal makes this natural stone pendant a sculptural statement whether it's lit or not. Choose a single hourglass, a round cluster, or a cascading spiral — each configuration reads as art on your ceiling.

04

An Heirloom of Time

Built to age, not to fade

Natural alabaster has been treasured for centuries for one reason: it endures. Unlike a resin or faux-stone shade that yellows and grows brittle under the warmth of the bulb, natural stone keeps its color and character for decades. Its genuine, substantial weight is the first thing customers notice that tells them they've received the real thing. Whether a single pendant or a dramatic stairwell spiral, this alabaster chandelier only deepens in character as the years pass — an heirloom, not a trend.

Hourglass Duo Alabaster Pendant Lamp — A pendant light combining natural stone and brass. Sculptural in form and visually striking, this hourglass-shaped alabaster pendant features two hand-carved natural alabaster bowls—one inverted and one upright—meeting at a warm-toned brass sphere in the center. This arrangement creates an elegant hourglass silhouette, allowing a soft, radiant glow to emanate from within the stone. Accented with slender brass rods and spherical details, the design perfectly blends the organic warmth of natural stone with refined metalwork. Whether installed as a single pendant or in a dramatic spiral cluster, it creates a soft yet luminous focal point for dining rooms, entryways, or soaring stairwells.

  • Single or Spiral Configurations — Available as a single pendant, a 3-light circular cluster, or a cascading multi-light spiral arrangement ideal for high ceilings.

1

Power Off & Prepare

Switch off power at the breaker and confirm the wires are dead with a voltage tester. Unpack carefully and handle the alabaster bowls gently, as each is genuine natural stone. Multi-light spirals are heavy — use a fixture-rated support box.

For multi-light and tall stairwell installs, a professional electrician is strongly recommended.
2

Set the Drop Heights

Each pendant hangs on an adjustable drop. Over a dining table, aim for the lowest point 30–36″ above the tabletop; for a spiral cluster, stagger the drops to cascade down the stairwell void.

3

Mount the Plate & Connect

Secure the ceiling plate to the rated box, then connect live (L), neutral (N), and ground (E) per the manual. Tuck the wires neatly and set the canopy flush to the ceiling.

4

Attach Shades & Power On

Fit the alabaster hourglass shades and brass beads, restore power, and switch on. The integrated LED means there's no bulb to fit. For a spiral, fine-tune each drop for a balanced cascade.

Questions, Answered

Alabaster Hourglass Pendant FAQ

What configurations are available?
Six configurations: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9 lights. The 1–3 light versions suit bedsides, tables, and entryways; the 5, 7, and 9-light spiral clusters are designed for tall stairwells, double-height foyers, and atriums. Each pendant hangs on an adjustable drop, staggered for the spiral clusters.
Are the bowls real alabaster?
Yes — each hourglass is hand-carved from genuine natural alabaster stone, never resin or faux stone. The veining and warm glow are one of a kind, so slight variation between pieces is the mark of authentic stone, not a defect.
What is the metal detailing made of?
The rods and beads are a warm brass-finish metal, chosen to offset the pale alabaster for an elevated, organic-modern look.
Can I adjust the hanging height?
Yes — the drop is adjustable on install. For spiral clusters, the pendants hang at staggered heights to cascade down the vertical space. Extended drops may be available on request for very tall stairwells.
What light source does it use?
It has an integrated LED, so there's no bulb to buy or replace — just wire it in and switch on. The warm-white glow filters softly through the natural stone.
Where does this alabaster pendant work best?
A single or small cluster is beautiful over a dining table, kitchen island, or bedside; the multi-light spiral is made to cascade down a stairwell, double-height foyer, or atrium.
Is it hard to install — do I need an electrician?
It's a hardwired ceiling pendant (L/N/E wiring). A single drop is straightforward, but for multi-light spirals and tall stairwell installs — which are heavy and need safe height access — we recommend a fixture-rated support box and a qualified electrician. Always cut power at the breaker first.
How do I care for the alabaster and brass?
Wipe both gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water, harsh chemicals, and abrasive pads — alabaster is a porous natural stone. With simple care, this alabaster pendant keeps its warm character for decades.

Built Right, Inside and Out

The beauty of a fixture is easy to photograph. What matters just as much is what sits inside the canopy—the driver, the bracket, the wiring, the hardware in the box. Here is how we build for safety and longevity, so the fixture you order arrives ready to install and made to last.

Install the driver, bracket and other components - Vidirlighting
01 · The Driver

An LED Driver Built to Last

We offer integrated LED drivers in a range of styles—dimmable, constant-current, and color-temperature-adjustable—so the fixture can be matched to how you actually light the room. It runs on 110–240V, works straight out of the box on standard US household power, and is rated for both dry and damp locations, so it fits wherever you'd like to install it.

02 · The Bracket

A Solid Mounting Bracket

Every fixture ships with a sturdy mounting bracket sized to a standard US junction box—so it hangs true and stays secure, year after year. No improvising, no trips to the hardware store.

03 · The Box

Everything You Need, in One Box

Open the carton and it's all there—canopy, mounting plate and bracket, screws and wall anchors, the driver, and a pair of clean cotton gloves for handling the glass. Nothing missing, nothing to source separately. It's the small stuff, packed with care, that makes installation day feel easy.

04 · The Wiring

Clean, Color-Coded Wiring

Clearly labeled leads and a tidy factory harness make professional installation quick and unambiguous. Hand it to your electrician and they'll have it up in minutes—standard L / N / E hardwiring, the way a considered fixture should be.

Order with confidence: what arrives at your door is a fixture built to be lived with—considered on the inside, finished on the outside. Wiring should be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with local code.

Hand-finished in stone
The alabaster edit

The Vidir lighting edit

The only shade that glows from inside.

Most shades block light and let it out at the edges. Yet, this stone-textured lampshade manages to achieve exactly that.

01

Translucent properties

Alabaster is translucent. Switch it on and the whole shade lights up from within, veining and all, instead of glowing only where the bulb sits. There is no bright spot to look at, because the light source is the entire surface.

02

Naturally formed

The veining was decided underground, long before anyone cut it. Every shade carries its own pattern and its own faint colour shift — so the piece that arrives is not the piece in the photograph, and that is the point.

03

Durable and long-lasting

Resin and acrylic imitations go amber and brittle within a few years of sitting next to a warm bulb. Stone does not age that way. The shade you unpack is the shade you will have in twenty years.

Designed for better living

Stone Light Fixtures

Natural stone is different from metal or glass. Understanding these points before you buy ensures there won't be any surprises after installation.
01

Light Color Defines the Look

Use warm white (2700K). The stone itself has an off-white, creamy tone; cool light passing through it makes it look grayish and dingy, whereas warm light brings out that honey-like hue seen in the photos.

02

Clean Only with a Dry Cloth

Alabaster is a natural stone that absorbs water and cleaning agents, which can leave permanent stains. Disconnect the power, let the bulb cool down, and then wipe the fixture with a soft, dry cloth—do not use water or spray cleaners.

03

It is heavier than it looks.

The density of the stone is far greater than that of a glass shade of the same size; ensure the ceiling's load-bearing capacity is sufficient for safety.

Alabaster is translucent, so the light travels through the stone rather than escaping at the edges — the whole shade glows, veining and all. Every piece carries a pattern that was decided underground, which is why no two are alike.

Industrially Replicated Surface

Limitations of resin

Resin is cast in moulds, so the "veining" repeats from one shade to the next and the light passes through evenly with no depth to it. It also ages differently: sitting close to a warm bulb, resin tends to amber and grow brittle within a few years.
