The story

Fiocco, tassels of stone

In the old palaces of Venice, silk tassels hung from golden cords beside the tall windows, swaying gently in the afternoon breeze.

Fiocco, the Italian word for tassel, keeps that graceful shape and turns it into light. Each tapered shade of natural white alabaster is crowned with a small stone ball and ringed with rivet details, just like the head of a tassel. The shades hang on vintage-style chains from their own ceiling canopies, and the chains can be swagged between canopies in soft curves. Switch it on and every shade glows warm from within, revealing its own cloud-like veining.

Choose a small or large shade and from one to nine heads: a single tassel over a bedside, a row over a kitchen island, or a sweeping cluster in a stairwell. In gold or black, the Fiocco suits modern classic, Mediterranean, French country, quiet-luxury and organic modern interiors.

Before you order

Choosing your Fiocco

Small or large shade?

The small shade (Ø 12 × H 24.7 cm) is delicate, for bedsides, small islands and smaller rooms. The large shade (Ø 16 × H 38 cm) suits dining tables, high ceilings and grand clusters.

What is the difference between 1-head Model A and Model B?

Both have one tassel. Model A comes with 150 cm (59.1″) of chain; Model B comes with 200 cm (78.7″), so it can hang lower or swag to a second canopy.

How does the chain length work?

The length listed is the total chain for the whole fixture. You share it between the drops to each shade and the swags between canopies: a deeper swag means a shorter drop.

How many heads do I need?

1 head for a bedside or reading chair; 2 to 4 for a kitchen island or dining table; 5 to 9 for a large dining room, stairwell or double-height hall.

The stone and the light

Is the shade real alabaster?

Yes. Every shade and finial ball is natural white alabaster, not resin or glass, so its veining is unique.

Which bulbs does it use?

E12 (standard in the US and Canada) or E14 (standard in Europe and the UK), one per head. Warm white LED bulbs of 2700–3000K give the softest glow.

Can I get a different chain length?

Yes. We can make the chain longer for tall stairwells or shorter for low ceilings: please contact us with your ceiling height before ordering.

Is it dimmable?

The standard Fiocco is on/off only, and fitting dimmable bulbs will not change that. If you want dimming, choose our dimmable version, made on request: please contact us before ordering.

Installation and care

How is it installed?

Each head hangs from its own ceiling canopy. Plan the canopy positions before installation; we recommend a qualified electrician. Send us a photo of your space and we will help you plan the layout.

How do I clean it?

Switch off and let the bulbs cool, then dust the shades with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water and chemical cleaners, as alabaster is a porous natural stone.

How soon will my order ship?

Each light is prepared at our factory in 5–10 days, then dispatched to you. You will see the delivery estimate for your country at checkout.

Each pendant is three forms — a cap, a ring and a sphere — carved from natural alabaster and stacked. Switched off, it reads as pale sculpture. Switched on, the veins surface like ink in water, and no two pendants will ever match.

Most shades block light and let it out at the edges. Yet, this stone-textured lampshade manages to achieve exactly that.

Translucent properties

Alabaster is translucent. Switch it on and the whole shade lights up from within, veining and all, instead of glowing only where the bulb sits. There is no bright spot to look at, because the light source is the entire surface.

Naturally formed

The veining was decided underground, long before anyone cut it. Every shade carries its own pattern and its own faint colour shift — so the piece that arrives is not the piece in the photograph, and that is the point.

Durable and long-lasting

Resin and acrylic imitations go amber and brittle within a few years of sitting next to a warm bulb. Stone does not age that way. The shade you unpack is the shade you will have in twenty years.

Designed for better living

Natural stone is different from metal or glass. Understanding these points before you buy ensures there won't be any surprises after installation.

Light Color Defines the Look

Use warm white (2700K). The stone itself has an off-white, creamy tone; cool light passing through it makes it look grayish and dingy, whereas warm light brings out that honey-like hue seen in the photos.

Clean Only with a Dry Cloth

Alabaster is a natural stone that absorbs water and cleaning agents, which can leave permanent stains. Disconnect the power, let the bulb cool down, and then wipe the fixture with a soft, dry cloth—do not use water or spray cleaners.

It is heavier than it looks.

The density of the stone is far greater than that of a glass shade of the same size; ensure the ceiling's load-bearing capacity is sufficient for safety.

Limitations of resin

Resin is cast in moulds, so the "veining" repeats from one shade to the next and the light passes through evenly with no depth to it. It also ages differently: sitting close to a warm bulb, resin tends to amber and grow brittle within a few years.
