Natural Alabaster Wall Sconce
An alabaster lantern on a bloom of acanthus leaves
The Medallion Alabaster Wall Sconce sets a softly fluted lantern of natural white alabaster against a round gold wall plate sculpted with acanthus leaves. Filigree caps and small finials frame the stone, so the sconce feels like a treasured piece passed down through generations. The acanthus leaf has decorated temple columns, palace ceilings and grand salons since ancient times, a symbol of beauty that endures. Here it blooms across the wall plate like a sculpted rosette, while the alabaster lantern above turns any bulb into a warm, candle-like glow. Switched off, the stone shows gentle clouds of ivory. Switched on, every natural vein appears, so no two sconces ever look exactly the same.
A fluted lantern of real stone gives a warm, glare-free glow with veining that is unique to every piece.
Eight sculpted leaves bloom across the round gold wall plate, a classical detail that reads like jewellery on the wall.
Hang a pair of single lanterns beside a mirror or bed, or choose the double for a fireplace wall or entry.
Each head takes a standard E12 or E14 bulb up to 40W, so a warm 2700K LED is simple to fit and replace.

A small round finial and a patterned filigree cap crown the lantern, a nod to the antique oil lamps of grand old houses.
Softly rounded, gently fluted sides let the light pass evenly through the stone, revealing its natural clouds and veins in a warm glow.
A decorated cup holds the shade and hides an E12 or E14 socket. A warm 2700K LED bulb gives the most flattering light.
Eight acanthus leaves bloom across the round wall plate, a classical motif of lasting beauty that also neatly covers the junction box.
Natural white alabaster
Every lantern is shaped from real stone. Its pattern is its own, yet we can choose stone with a character you love.

Alabaster formed slowly in the earth over thousands of years, so the lantern you receive will never look exactly like the photos, or like any other piece. These differences are the mark of genuine stone, not a defect.
Nature never repeats a pattern exactly, but we can select stone with a similar character for you.
Questions
Clear answers on choosing, installing and caring for your Medallion sconce.
The 1 Head (H 37 cm / 14.6″) is ideal in pairs beside a mirror or bed, and along hallways where space is tight. The 2 Heads (H 57 cm / 22.4″) gives twice the light and a taller presence, so it suits fireplace walls, entries and larger vanities.
Beside a bathroom mirror or along a hallway, place the centre of the medallion about 60–66″ above the floor. Beside a bed, about 48–54″ works well, so the glow sits just above shoulder height when you are sitting up.
Beside a vanity mirror, space two sconces about 36–40″ apart, centred on the mirror. Beside a bed, set each one 6–10″ outside the edge of the headboard.
Yes, in a dry area such as beside a vanity mirror. The sconce is rated IP20 for indoor dry locations, so keep it away from the shower, tub and direct water splashes.
Yes. The lantern is shaped from natural white alabaster, so every shade carries its own soft clouds and veins. This variation is the mark of genuine stone rather than a defect.
Dust it gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water, sprays and chemical cleaners, as alabaster is a soft, porous stone that can mark or lose its sheen.
Each head takes one E12 or E14 bulb, up to 40W, sold separately. For the warmest glow through the stone, we recommend a 2700K LED bulb of around 4–6W, which gives the look of a 40W bulb with far less heat.
The standard sconce has a push-button switch and is not dimmable. If you need a dimmable version, please contact us before ordering and we will confirm the options.
It runs on AC 110–240V, which suits standard US household wiring as well as most other countries.
The medallion mounts over a standard wall junction box and the sconce is hardwired. For safety and local code compliance, we recommend installation by a licensed electrician.
Yes. Choose the option marked (*2) to receive two sconces at a better price than buying them one by one, ideal for both sides of a mirror, bed or fireplace.
Each sconce is prepared at our factory in 5–10 days on average, then carefully packed to protect the stone and shipped.
Send us a photo of your wall, and we will suggest the version, height and spacing.

Natural stone lighting
The Vidir lighting edit
Most shades block light and let it out at the edges. Yet, this stone-textured lampshade manages to achieve exactly that.
Alabaster is translucent. Switch it on and the whole shade lights up from within, veining and all, instead of glowing only where the bulb sits. There is no bright spot to look at, because the light source is the entire surface.
The veining was decided underground, long before anyone cut it. Every shade carries its own pattern and its own faint colour shift — so the piece that arrives is not the piece in the photograph, and that is the point.
Resin and acrylic imitations go amber and brittle within a few years of sitting next to a warm bulb. Stone does not age that way. The shade you unpack is the shade you will have in twenty years.
Designed for better living
Use warm white (2700K). The stone itself has an off-white, creamy tone; cool light passing through it makes it look grayish and dingy, whereas warm light brings out that honey-like hue seen in the photos.
Alabaster is a natural stone that absorbs water and cleaning agents, which can leave permanent stains. Disconnect the power, let the bulb cool down, and then wipe the fixture with a soft, dry cloth—do not use water or spray cleaners.
The density of the stone is far greater than that of a glass shade of the same size; ensure the ceiling's load-bearing capacity is sufficient for safety.

Our product
Alabaster Cylindrical Chain Chandelier
Alabaster is translucent, so the light travels through the stone rather than escaping at the edges — the whole shade glows, veining and all. Every piece carries a pattern that was decided underground, which is why no two are alike.
Resin is cast in moulds, so the "veining" repeats from one shade to the next and the light passes through evenly with no depth to it. It also ages differently: sitting close to a warm bulb, resin tends to amber and grow brittle within a few years.
THE ART OF ALABASTER
The natural texture of alabaster brings a warm, mineral quality to the space. (Please contact us if you require a specific texture.)
A pure white texture reminiscent of fresh snow—warm, smooth, and refined.
Deep, inky patterns flow across a white base.
A dynamic pattern resembling a bolt of lightning streaking across the sky.
Fine, intricate cracks evoking the aesthetic beauty of a sheet of ice at the moment it shatters.
A pattern as light and airy as falling snowflakes, with every single flake unique.
Material · Method · Light
Every texture tells a story of natural light and patient craftsmanship.

Crafted from select natural alabaster, preserving its unique veining.
Meticulously cut and shaped by artisans.
Repeatedly ground and polished for a smooth, refined texture.
Carefully assembled and quality-inspected.
