Nuvola, named after a cloud
Some evenings, just before sunset, a single cloud catches the last of the light and glows from the inside. Nuvola, the Italian word for cloud, keeps that moment on your ceiling.
A rounded shade of natural alabaster, soft and full like a smooth river pebble, sits close to the ceiling on a solid brass canopy. Inside the stone, drifting veins form a cloud of their own. Switch it on and the whole shade glows warm and even, while light falls gently through the open base onto the floor below.
Compact and low-profile, in two sizes, the Nuvola is made for the places a large fixture will not fit: hallways, entryways, walk-in closets, laundry rooms, landings and small bedrooms. In gold or nickel, it suits modern organic, Japandi, Scandinavian, mid-century and modern classic interiors.

The stone
Is the shade real alabaster?
Yes. The shade is carved from natural white alabaster, a soft, translucent stone, and smoothed into its rounded pebble shape. It is not glass, resin or acrylic.
Will my shade look like the photos?
It will share the same soft white tone and rounded form, but its veining is unique. Every block of alabaster carries its own pattern, so the “cloud” in your shade will be one of a kind. This is a natural feature of real stone, not a defect.

What sizes does the Nuvola come in?
It comes in two sizes, both 18 cm (7.1″) tall: Ø 22 cm (8.7″) for hallways, closets and other compact spaces, and Ø 28 cm (11″) for entryways, landings and small bedrooms.
Will it work with a low ceiling?
Yes. Both sizes are only 18 cm (7.1″) tall, leaving about 2.22 m (7.3 ft) of headroom under a standard 2.4 m (8 ft) ceiling, more than the 2.1 m (7 ft) usually recommended for walkways.
How many do I need for a hallway?
As a guide, space them about 2.4–3 m (8–10 ft) apart along the corridor, starting about half that distance from each end, for an even rhythm of light.

Which bulb should I use?
An E26 bulb (standard in the US and Canada) or E27 bulb (standard in Europe and much of Asia), up to 40 W. A warm white LED bulb of 2700–3000K brings out the honey-coloured glow of the stone and stays cool to the touch.
Is it dimmable?
The standard Nuvola is on/off only. A dimmable version is available on request: please contact us before ordering.
How is it installed?
It is a hardwired ceiling light that fixes to a standard ceiling junction box. For safety, we recommend installation by a qualified electrician, following local electrical codes.
Can I use it in a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20 for indoor, dry rooms only, so it should not be installed in bathrooms, showers or outdoors.
Care and ordering
How do I clean the alabaster?
Switch off and let the bulb cool, then dust the shade with a soft, dry cloth or brush. Avoid water, sprays and chemical cleaners, as alabaster is porous and can mark easily.
Will it work with the voltage in my country?
Yes. It runs on AC 110–240 V, which covers the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia and most other countries.

Translucent properties
Alabaster is translucent. Switch it on and the whole shade lights up from within, veining and all, instead of glowing only where the bulb sits. There is no bright spot to look at, because the light source is the entire surface.

Naturally formed
The veining was decided underground, long before anyone cut it. Every shade carries its own pattern and its own faint colour shift — so the piece that arrives is not the piece in the photograph, and that is the point.

Durable and long-lasting
Resin and acrylic imitations go amber and brittle within a few years of sitting next to a warm bulb. Stone does not age that way. The shade you unpack is the shade you will have in twenty years.

Light Color Defines the Look
Use warm white (2700K). The stone itself has an off-white, creamy tone; cool light passing through it makes it look grayish and dingy, whereas warm light brings out that honey-like hue seen in the photos.

Clean Only with a Dry Cloth
Alabaster is a natural stone that absorbs water and cleaning agents, which can leave permanent stains. Disconnect the power, let the bulb cool down, and then wipe the fixture with a soft, dry cloth—do not use water or spray cleaners.

It is heavier than it looks.
The density of the stone is far greater than that of a glass shade of the same size; ensure the ceiling's load-bearing capacity is sufficient for safety.

Limitations of resin
Resin is cast in moulds, so the "veining" repeats from one shade to the next and the light passes through evenly with no depth to it. It also ages differently: sitting close to a warm bulb, resin tends to amber and grow brittle within a few years.
