An instrument made of light
A natural alabaster globe beneath a brass arm lined with polished marble and agate beads, like the tuning pegs of an old lute catching candlelight.
Liuto is the Italian word for lute
Picture an old lute resting against a plaster wall: the long neck, the row of carved tuning pegs, the rounded body that holds the sound.
The Liuto alabaster wall sconce is that instrument reimagined in stone and brass. A slender brass hairpin arm rises from the wall, lined on both sides with polished natural stone beads in marble and agate. Below it, a ribbed collar wraps the neck of the light like windings of string, and at the base sits a natural alabaster globe, the body of the instrument. Instead of music, it holds light.
Switch it on and the alabaster warms from within, revealing soft, cloud-like veining, while the stone beads catch the glow like pegs in candlelight. Choose green, beige or brown stone with an antique bronze or gold frame, and the Liuto becomes a collected object for Art Deco, Mediterranean, eclectic and modern classic interiors, at home beside a bed, along a hallway or on a living room wall.

No two pieces of stone are ever the same
The alabaster globe and every marble and agate bead are cut from natural stone, so each piece carries its own veining and subtle variation in colour. The sconce you receive may differ slightly from the images shown, which makes your Liuto truly one of a kind.
One size, drawn to scale, with every part explained

Polished marble and agate beads in green, beige or brown, set on both sides of the arm like tuning pegs.
A slender U-shaped brass arm in antique bronze or gold, rising from a round wall plate.
A finely ribbed, gently waisted neck that frames the globe like the windings of a string.
A natural white alabaster sphere that glows warm and soft, with cloud-like veining.
Tip: wall sconces usually look best with their centre about 150–170 cm (60–66″) from the floor. Beside a bed, mount a little lower so the globe sits near reading height.
Select the option marked (*2) and two sconces together come at a better price than buying them separately. Made for both sides of a bed, a mirror or a doorway.
Everything you need to know before ordering
About the stone, the light and your order
Yes. The globe is natural white alabaster, and the beads are natural marble and agate, not glass, resin or plastic.
Very close, but not identical. Because every globe and bead is natural stone, each has its own veining and slight colour variation. This is a natural feature of real stone, not a defect.
Green beads add depth and a botanical, collected feel. Beige beads are soft and warm, ideal for light, neutral rooms. Brown beads feel earthy and rich, beautiful with dark wood and leather.
Antique bronze has a darker, aged tone for vintage, eclectic and Mediterranean rooms. Gold is brighter and warmer, ideal for Art Deco and modern classic interiors.
It takes an E26 or E27 bulb, up to 40 W. E26 is standard in the US, Canada and Mexico; E27 is standard in Europe and many other countries.
A warm white LED bulb (2700–3000K) brings out the candle-like glow of the alabaster globe and stays cool to the touch.
No. The Liuto turns on and off with a push-button switch and is not dimmable. Its alabaster globe already softens the light into a warm, gentle glow.
No. The Liuto is rated IP20 for indoor, dry rooms only. It suits bedrooms, hallways, stairways, living and dining rooms, but should not be installed in bathrooms or other damp areas.
It measures Ø 14 cm × H 62 cm (Ø 5.5″ × H 24.4″), a tall, slender sconce that makes a statement on its own or in a pair.
As a guide, place the centre of the sconce about 150–170 cm (60–66″) from the floor. Beside a bed, a little lower works well for reading.
Yes. The Liuto runs on AC 110–240 V, which covers the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia and most other countries.
The Liuto mounts directly to the wall. For safety, we recommend installation by a qualified electrician.
Yes. Choose the option marked (*2) to get two sconces together at a lower price than buying them one by one.
Each sconce is prepared at our factory in 5–10 days, then dispatched to you. You will see the delivery estimate for your country at checkout.

Natural stone lighting
The Vidir lighting edit
Most shades block light and let it out at the edges. Yet, this stone-textured lampshade manages to achieve exactly that.
Alabaster is translucent. Switch it on and the whole shade lights up from within, veining and all, instead of glowing only where the bulb sits. There is no bright spot to look at, because the light source is the entire surface.
The veining was decided underground, long before anyone cut it. Every shade carries its own pattern and its own faint colour shift — so the piece that arrives is not the piece in the photograph, and that is the point.
Resin and acrylic imitations go amber and brittle within a few years of sitting next to a warm bulb. Stone does not age that way. The shade you unpack is the shade you will have in twenty years.
Designed for better living
Use warm white (2700K). The stone itself has an off-white, creamy tone; cool light passing through it makes it look grayish and dingy, whereas warm light brings out that honey-like hue seen in the photos.
Alabaster is a natural stone that absorbs water and cleaning agents, which can leave permanent stains. Disconnect the power, let the bulb cool down, and then wipe the fixture with a soft, dry cloth—do not use water or spray cleaners.
The density of the stone is far greater than that of a glass shade of the same size; ensure the ceiling's load-bearing capacity is sufficient for safety.

Alabaster Cylindrical Chain Chandelier
Alabaster is translucent, so the light travels through the stone rather than escaping at the edges — the whole shade glows, veining and all. Every piece carries a pattern that was decided underground, which is why no two are alike.
Resin is cast in moulds, so the "veining" repeats from one shade to the next and the light passes through evenly with no depth to it. It also ages differently: sitting close to a warm bulb, resin tends to amber and grow brittle within a few years.
THE ART OF ALABASTER
The natural texture of alabaster brings a warm, mineral quality to the space. (Please contact us if you require a specific texture.)
A pure white texture reminiscent of fresh snow—warm, smooth, and refined.
Deep, inky patterns flow across a white base.
A dynamic pattern resembling a bolt of lightning streaking across the sky.
Fine, intricate cracks evoking the aesthetic beauty of a sheet of ice at the moment it shatters.
A pattern as light and airy as falling snowflakes, with every single flake unique.
Material · Method · Light
Every texture tells a story of natural light and patient craftsmanship.

Crafted from select natural alabaster, preserving its unique veining.
Meticulously cut and shaped by artisans.
Repeatedly ground and polished for a smooth, refined texture.
Carefully assembled and quality-inspected.
