A cluster of small moons, carved in stone
Tiers of natural alabaster discs on a slender metal frame, glowing layer upon layer like moonlight through paper-thin seed pods.
The story
In late summer, the old cottage-garden plant lunaria leaves behind round, translucent seed pods that gardeners call moon pennies. Hold one up to a window and the light glows straight through it. The Lunaria ceiling light is built from that same idea, in stone: dozens of round discs of natural alabaster hang from slender hooks, overlapping in gentle tiers around a central frame.
Switch it on and the light passes through every disc, layer upon layer, so the whole fixture glows like a cluster of small moons, with cloud-like veining drifting across each one. In gold or nickel, the Lunaria brings the warmth and presence of a chandelier to bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and entryways, in Art Deco, modern organic, Japandi and modern classic interiors alike.

Natural alabaster
No two discs are ever the same
Every disc is cut from natural alabaster, so each one carries its own veining and subtle variation in colour. Across dozens of discs, these small differences give the light its soft, shifting texture, and make your Lunaria truly one of a kind.

Questions, answered
Yes. Every disc is natural white alabaster stone, not glass, resin or shell. Its veining shows most clearly when the light is on.
Very close, but not identical. Each disc is natural stone, so veining and tone vary slightly from disc to disc. Across the whole fixture, that variation is part of its character, not a defect.
Gold feels warm and classic, beautiful with cream walls, wood and Art Deco interiors. Nickel is cooler and more understated, ideal with grey, white and modern rooms.
It measures Ø 55 cm × H 50 cm (Ø 21.6″ × H 19.7″).
It is best on ceilings from 2.6 m (8.5 ft) where people walk below, or from 2.4 m (8 ft) above a table or bed.
A Ø 55 cm light suits rooms of about 10–14 m² (110–150 sq ft). Over a dining table, choose a table at least 85 cm (34″) wide.
It takes E12 or E14 bulbs, up to 40 W. E12 (candelabra) is standard in the US, Canada and Mexico; E14 is standard in the UK, Europe, Australia and much of Asia. Warm white LED bulbs (2700–3000K) give the softest glow through the stone.
No. The Lunaria is on/off only and is not dimmable. Its alabaster discs already soften the light into a warm, gentle glow.
No. It is rated IP20 for indoor, dry rooms only, such as bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and entryways.
Dust the discs with a soft, dry cloth or brush. Avoid water and chemical cleaners, as alabaster is a porous natural stone.
Yes. It runs on AC 110–240 V, which covers the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia and most other countries.
It is a hardwired ceiling light. For safety, we recommend installation by a qualified electrician.
Each light is prepared at our factory in 5–10 working days, then dispatched to you. You will see the delivery estimate for your country at checkout.

Natural stone lighting
The Vidir lighting edit
Most shades block light and let it out at the edges. Yet, this stone-textured lampshade manages to achieve exactly that.
Alabaster is translucent. Switch it on and the whole shade lights up from within, veining and all, instead of glowing only where the bulb sits. There is no bright spot to look at, because the light source is the entire surface.
The veining was decided underground, long before anyone cut it. Every shade carries its own pattern and its own faint colour shift — so the piece that arrives is not the piece in the photograph, and that is the point.
Resin and acrylic imitations go amber and brittle within a few years of sitting next to a warm bulb. Stone does not age that way. The shade you unpack is the shade you will have in twenty years.
Designed for better living
Use warm white (2700K). The stone itself has an off-white, creamy tone; cool light passing through it makes it look grayish and dingy, whereas warm light brings out that honey-like hue seen in the photos.
Alabaster is a natural stone that absorbs water and cleaning agents, which can leave permanent stains. Disconnect the power, let the bulb cool down, and then wipe the fixture with a soft, dry cloth—do not use water or spray cleaners.
The density of the stone is far greater than that of a glass shade of the same size; ensure the ceiling's load-bearing capacity is sufficient for safety.

Our product
Alabaster Cylindrical Chain Chandelier
Alabaster is translucent, so the light travels through the stone rather than escaping at the edges — the whole shade glows, veining and all. Every piece carries a pattern that was decided underground, which is why no two are alike.
Resin is cast in moulds, so the "veining" repeats from one shade to the next and the light passes through evenly with no depth to it. It also ages differently: sitting close to a warm bulb, resin tends to amber and grow brittle within a few years.
THE ART OF ALABASTER
The natural texture of alabaster brings a warm, mineral quality to the space. (Please contact us if you require a specific texture.)
A pure white texture reminiscent of fresh snow—warm, smooth, and refined.
Deep, inky patterns flow across a white base.
A dynamic pattern resembling a bolt of lightning streaking across the sky.
Fine, intricate cracks evoking the aesthetic beauty of a sheet of ice at the moment it shatters.
A pattern as light and airy as falling snowflakes, with every single flake unique.
Material · Method · Light
Every texture tells a story of natural light and patient craftsmanship.

Crafted from select natural alabaster, preserving its unique veining.
Meticulously cut and shaped by artisans.
Repeatedly ground and polished for a smooth, refined texture.
Carefully assembled and quality-inspected.
