Natural alabaster on a slim wood base, with rotating heads and a warm 3000K glow that falls like early light through cloud.
kumo means cloud. It is the softness of the sky just before sunrise, when pale light first turns warm.
We wanted a wall light that brings that moment home. Each round shade is cut from natural white alabaster, a translucent stone artisans have shaped for thousands of years. When the Kumo is off, the stone looks quiet and milky. Switch it on and its veining appears, drifting and layered like cloud, while warm 3000K light falls gently from beneath.
The shades rest on a slim wood base in natural or walnut colour, just 6 cm high, so the light sits close to the wall and never feels heavy. Above a dressing table, beside the bed or along a hallway, the Kumo adds the calm of Japandi and wabi-sabi design: natural stone, warm wood and soft, glare-free light.

No two pieces of stone are ever the same
Alabaster is a natural stone, so every piece carries its own veining and subtle variation in colour. The light you receive may differ slightly from the images shown, which makes your Kumo truly one of a kind.
Every alabaster head on the Kumo rotates. Tilt it up or down, turn it left or right, and aim the warm light exactly where you want it, so one light can do the work of several.
Angle the light toward the wall for a soft wash, or out into the room for brighter light.
Point each head a different way to spread light across a wide wall or focus it on one spot.
| Size | Length | Works well for |
|---|---|---|
| 2 lights | 32 cm / 12.6″ | Bedside walls, narrow hallways, or a single mirror up to about 45 cm / 18″ wide. |
| 3 lights | 51 cm / 20.1″ | Dressing-table mirrors around 60–75 cm / 24–30″, or above a console, desk or artwork. |
| 4 lights | 70 cm / 27.6″ | Wide mirrors from about 90 cm / 36″, long hallways, or above a sideboard or headboard. |
A simple rule: choose a light about two-thirds to three-quarters the width of the mirror or furniture below it.
Select the size marked (*2) and two lights together come at a better price than buying them separately. Perfect for matching bedside walls or both sides of a mirror.
Need a dimmable version? The standard Kumo uses an on/off push-button. If you would like a dimmable version, please contact us and we will help with the details.
Contact usYes. Every Kumo shade is natural white alabaster stone, not plastic or resin. You can see its veining most clearly when the light is on.
Very close, but not identical. Because alabaster is natural stone, each shade has its own veining and slight colour variation. This is a natural feature of real stone, not a defect.
Yes. Each alabaster head rotates, so you can tilt it up or down and turn it left or right. Aim the light down the wall, onto a mirror, or toward artwork.
The Kumo uses a 3000K warm white LED, close to the soft, golden tone of a classic warm bulb. It is relaxing for bedrooms and evening use, and still clear enough for a dressing table.
The standard Kumo turns on and off with a push-button switch on the wood base and is not dimmable. If you need a dimmable version, please contact us before ordering.
No. The LED is built into the light, so there are no bulbs to buy or replace.
No. The Kumo is rated IP20 for indoor, dry rooms only. It suits bedrooms, dressing rooms, hallways, stairways and living spaces, but should not be installed in bathrooms or other damp areas.
Pick a light about two-thirds to three-quarters the width of what sits below it. The 2-light (32 cm / 12.6″) suits bedsides and small mirrors, the 3-light (51 cm / 20.1″) suits standard dressing-table mirrors, and the 4-light (70 cm / 27.6″) suits wide mirrors, sideboards and long hallways.
Natural wood feels light and airy against white or cream walls and pale furniture. Walnut colour adds depth and contrast, and looks especially rich on greige, plaster or darker painted walls.
Yes. Choose the size option marked (*2) to get two lights together at a lower price than buying them one by one, ideal for both sides of a bed or mirror.
Yes. The Kumo runs on AC 110–240 V, which covers the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia and most other countries.

Natural stone lighting
The Vidir lighting edit
Most shades block light and let it out at the edges. Yet, this stone-textured lampshade manages to achieve exactly that.
Alabaster is translucent. Switch it on and the whole shade lights up from within, veining and all, instead of glowing only where the bulb sits. There is no bright spot to look at, because the light source is the entire surface.
The veining was decided underground, long before anyone cut it. Every shade carries its own pattern and its own faint colour shift — so the piece that arrives is not the piece in the photograph, and that is the point.
Resin and acrylic imitations go amber and brittle within a few years of sitting next to a warm bulb. Stone does not age that way. The shade you unpack is the shade you will have in twenty years.
Designed for better living
Use warm white (2700K). The stone itself has an off-white, creamy tone; cool light passing through it makes it look grayish and dingy, whereas warm light brings out that honey-like hue seen in the photos.
Alabaster is a natural stone that absorbs water and cleaning agents, which can leave permanent stains. Disconnect the power, let the bulb cool down, and then wipe the fixture with a soft, dry cloth—do not use water or spray cleaners.
The density of the stone is far greater than that of a glass shade of the same size; ensure the ceiling's load-bearing capacity is sufficient for safety.

Our product
Alabaster Cylindrical Chain Chandelier
Alabaster is translucent, so the light travels through the stone rather than escaping at the edges — the whole shade glows, veining and all. Every piece carries a pattern that was decided underground, which is why no two are alike.
Resin is cast in moulds, so the "veining" repeats from one shade to the next and the light passes through evenly with no depth to it. It also ages differently: sitting close to a warm bulb, resin tends to amber and grow brittle within a few years.
THE ART OF ALABASTER
The natural texture of alabaster brings a warm, mineral quality to the space. (Please contact us if you require a specific texture.)
A pure white texture reminiscent of fresh snow—warm, smooth, and refined.
Deep, inky patterns flow across a white base.
A dynamic pattern resembling a bolt of lightning streaking across the sky.
Fine, intricate cracks evoking the aesthetic beauty of a sheet of ice at the moment it shatters.
A pattern as light and airy as falling snowflakes, with every single flake unique.
Material · Method · Light
Every texture tells a story of natural light and patient craftsmanship.

Crafted from select natural alabaster, preserving its unique veining.
Meticulously cut and shaped by artisans.
Repeatedly ground and polished for a smooth, refined texture.
Carefully assembled and quality-inspected.
